Crucial Clarification

The silent auction (homeroom baskets, class projects, etc.) will take place at the Gala on Saturday, January 28th.

There will not be a silent auction/fundraiser tied to the musical this year.

Morning Star Takes Manhattan is THE spring fundraiser for the 2011-2012 school year.

To prevent steep increases in tuition, please support MSS by attending the gala.

AUCTION BASKET ITEMS DESPERATELY NEEDED!!

** The Gala is only 25 days away. **

Theme Baskets for our Silent Auction are the most lucrative piece of fundraising.

Items are desperately needed to make these baskets – there has been a very poor showing so far.

Ms. Dodge – the Basket Guru – is at this point simply requesting ANY ITEMS that could be placed together for theme baskets of ANY KIND. Below are the homeroom assigned themes, but please feel free to purchase items from a theme other than your child’s homeroom … or create your own theme all together.

Again, we greatly appreciate your support. All money raised will directly benefit students.

Gala Ticket Challenge

The most essential part of our gala is ticket sales – it won’t be much of an event without people to pack the place!

Sponsorship Packages & Individual Tickets are available for purchase online or through the Front Office. Tickets are $50 apiece; sponsorship packages include event tickets – there’s something for everyone! (Listing of packages on reverse side.)

You may not personally be able to attend or sponsor the event, but someone you know (family, friend, co-worker, neighbor, etc.) can!

EVERYONE needs to do their part for their children’s school.

THE CHALLENGE: Every family sell at least one gala ticket or sponsorship package.

One may seem like the loneliest number, but not when added to the efforts of everyone else. Just look at what is possible…

1 Individual Ticket per Family ($50) 105 tickets $5,250.00
2 Individual Tickets per Family ($100) 210 tickets $10,500.00
1 Statue of Liberty Sponsorship Package per Family ($125) 210 tickets $13,125.00

The family who sells the most tickets &/or sponsorship packages will receive two complimentary tickets to the Gala on Saturday, January 28th at the Friday Musicale in Downtown Jacksonville off of Oak St.! The gala will feature hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, music and dancing, silent and live auction, and of course a few surprises.

Invitations will be sent home shortly to all families. In the meantime please spread the word by directing people to our website: www.morningstar-jax.org. (All information under Gala tab.)

GOOD LUCK and THANK YOU!

Operation Brown Bag 2011

 The Mission

Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to “Brown Bag It” and bring your lunch to the office rather than going to the cafeteria or nearby restaurant during your work week. In turn, donate the money you would have spent to learning disabled students at Morning Star School.

Make a Donation. Make a Difference.

The Cost of Giving

A donation of only $10 has the potential to resonate through our entire school!

  • Field trips
  • Library improvements & growth
  • Textbook & resource materials
  • Technology
  • Playground equipment
  • And much more!

To Donate Online:

www.morningstar-jax.org

**Or turn in with form to homeroom teacher – Only checks/cash accepted; for credit/debit cards please donate online.**

Operation Brown Bag

Have you participated in Morning Star’s Annual 2011 appeal yet?

This year the request is simple – donate $5, $10, $15. We aren’t asking for much, just that you donate the money you would normally spend on a lunch out during the week. Brown Bag it to work and donate the savings.

Although it may not seem like very much, that small donation will make a world of difference to the programs at Morning Star School!

Remember, we’ve made it even easier to donate this year thanks to Pay Pal. Simply go to our website: www.morningstar-jax.org. Click on the “donate” button and take the 30 seconds to complete your transaction. A receipt will be emailed to you and you’re all set!

…and don’t forget to encourage family and friends to donate as well!

Thank you as always for your support…see you in a couple weeks!

Happy Summer, Everyone!

All of us at Morning Star School hope you enjoyed a safe and fabulous 4th of July. It’s hard to believe summer is going by so fast.

By now you should have received this year’s appeal in the mail.

20090908_packedlunch_250x250.jpgOperation Brown Bag offers a different spin on the annual S.T.A.R. Campaign. Rather than ask for a flat donation, we are challenging our parents, staff, Board Members, and others in the community to sacrifice one lunch out during the week. By “brown bagging it” you are then able to donate the money you would have spent on that lunch out to Morning Star School and its mission.

To make this year’s campaign even better, we are now able to offer the ability to make your donation using PayPal. That’s right – you can donate using your debit or credit card directly through our website! Simply go to www.morningstar-jax.org and click on the “Donate” button. It’s that easy!

Don’t forget to pass this information onto your friends and family! All they have to do to donate is visit our website. www.morningstar-jax.org

Who knew a few PB&Js could make such a difference?

Many thanks,
Laura Brock
